Bio

Max Gordy is pursuing a Master’s degree in Urban Planning at NYU Wagner, focusing on housing justice, affordability, and equitable urban development. He is dedicated to ensuring that all New Yorkers have access to safe and stable housing, regardless of race, income, family status, or disability. Max currently works at the NYU Furman Center, conducting research on housing finance, zoning, and the politics of housing reform, while analyzing policy solutions to improve access and equity. He recently completed a research and advocacy internship with the Regional Plan Association, examining barriers to homeownership for low-income households and the role of tenure in shaping racial wealth gaps. Before graduate school, Max gained experience in neighborhood planning and community engagement with the Los Angeles Neighborhood Initiative and supported self-represented litigants facing eviction at the LA Superior Court’s self-help center. He earned a B.A. in Political Science with a minor in Urban Studies from UCLA. Max looks forward to collaborating with community boards, local organizations, and policymakers to advance programs and policies that enhance housing access, promote equity, and strengthen sustainable communities across cities.
