February 5, 2026: City Teaching Alliance Launch in New York

• 1 Minutes

New York City’s schools sit at the intersection of opportunity and challenge. While the city is rich with talent, passion, and diversity, districts continue to face persistent educator workforce shortages that affect student learning, school stability, and community well-being.
Addressing these challenges requires more than short-term solutions. It calls for sustained investment in people, stronger partnerships, and a shared commitment to developing local talent who are prepared to serve New York City’s students and communities.
Join us for a panel moderated by Dr. Lisette Nieves, President of the Fund for the City of New York, featuring Dr. Rahesha Amon, Dr. Tequilla Brownie, and Dr. Gisele Castro. Together, they will explore the challenges facing districts today and the opportunities to build sustainable, diverse educator pipelines through collaboration among school systems, higher education institutions, and community organizations.

This conversation also marks an important moment for connection within New York City’s education ecosystem. As City Teaching Alliance formally launches in New York, the panel offers an opportunity to learn from their national experience while grounding the discussion in the specific needs and strengths of NYC.

We invite you to listen, learn, and build together toward a more just and thriving education system in New York City.
