Bio

Nishat Rahman earned a bachelor’s degree with dual majors in Economics and Psychology and has worked in marketing, banking, data analytics, and project management. During an undergraduate internship with NYC311, she gained firsthand exposure to how residents navigate public services and how public institutions respond to community needs. She also interned at a men’s shelter in Brooklyn, where she coordinated client intakes and referrals and facilitated a Music & Memories group. Working with clients and community organizations highlighted the relationship between individual experiences and the systems that shape access to resources and opportunities. These experiences inform her interest in the intersections of public health, community well-being, and public policy, particularly how decisions about services, infrastructure, and neighborhoods affect people’s daily lives. Outside of work and school, Nishat enjoys rowing, kayaking, and open-water swimming and volunteers with organizations across New York City that promote equitable access to recreational waterways.
