Bio

Alan earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Architectural Design from Parsons School of Design, where his capstone project, the Bed Stuy Water Shed, reimagined an underutilized Brooklyn lot in need of shade, open space, and additional amenities. His proposal included public restrooms, storage for local organizations, plumbing vocational training, and an accessible public garden. Growing up in both New York City and Philadelphia has informed Alan’s approach to design and planning, including his interest in public transit and mobility. His interests also extend to mapping, graphic design, typography, and photography, which he uses to communicate design and planning ideas to broader audiences. In Philadelphia, Alan participated in the Fabric Workshop and Museum’s screen-printing apprentice program. He has also worked seasonally with the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council on Governors Island. During the fellowship, Alan hopes to expand his data analysis skills through Python and R and incorporate quantitative analysis into his spatial and design work.
