Bio

Before studying urban planning, June Yoon worked in architecture, interior design, and project management in South Korea. As a project lead, he delivered a lighting improvement program across more than 70 public schools in Seoul, coordinating budgets, construction supervision, and inspections. He also contributed to the design and construction of more than 15 offices, hospitality, retail, food and beverage, and residential projects. June is now bringing that experience into urban planning and exploring how data can help planners understand the ways people use and experience public spaces. He is currently working with Grain Collective and the Alliance for Flushing Meadows Corona Park on a community engagement project. His role includes developing a field observation framework, documenting patterns of park use, and organizing findings alongside interviews, surveys, and public data. Building on this work, June is interested in how digital tools can broaden community engagement and incorporate people’s experiences into planning and development decisions.
