Nathaly Fernandez is pursuing a Master’s in Social Work at Fordham University’s Graduate School of Social Service, where she also earned her Bachelor’s degree in Social Work. Originally from the Dominican Republic, she moved to Queens in 2012, bringing a bicultural perspective and a deep commitment to equity, advocacy, and community engagement. Nathaly has worked with individuals and families in educational and social service settings, providing guidance, resources, and tailored support. She previously served as a College Coach at a high school in Queens and currently works as a Resident Assistant at Fordham, roles that strengthened her abilities in communication, conflict resolution, mentoring, and program development. While passionate about direct service, she also aims to influence policy and advocate for systemic change that uplifts marginalized and underserved communities. Nathaly is especially interested in the intersection of social work and public policy in shaping inclusive, equitable, and sustainable communities. Outside of her academic and professional work, she enjoys celebrating her curly hair, cooking for friends and family, attending cultural events, and sharing meaningful moments with friends and loved ones. Her experiences guide her commitment to community empowerment and transformative social impact.
