Bio
Quaran Ahmad explores how cities, culture, art, and environmental justice intersect, using design and storytelling to create more equitable and meaningful public spaces. His experience spans urban planning, infrastructure, environmental research, and community engagement through roles with the New York City Department of Design and Construction, AECOM, the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, Yale University’s Institute for Biospheric Studies, and Fermilab. A Howard University graduate with a Bachelor of Architecture, Quaran is also an award-winning photographer, filmmaker, and creative director whose work examines Black identity through architecture and culture. His creative projects have been exhibited by NYU, Howard University, Washington Project for the Arts, and Wales Bonner, and his film work received a 2025 HBCU Week NOW Film Festival award. He is interested in using urban planning to advance civic engagement and cultural innovation while exploring how design can empower communities and transform the places they call home.
