Bio

Dhruvin Thakkar is pursuing a Master’s degree in Sustainable Environmental Systems at Pratt Institute, building on a Bachelor of Architecture from Navrachana University in Vadodara, India. He has collaborated with nonprofit and sustainable development organizations serving marginalized neighborhoods, advancing social and environmental justice through design, research, and community advocacy. As a licensed architect, Dhruvin has contributed to projects specializing in earth construction and has served as a project manager, construction supervisor, and building material researcher, gaining hands-on experience in innovative and sustainable building techniques. He also worked with the NYC Parks Department’s Strategic Community Development division, supporting public programming, facilitating partnerships, and helping organizations steward green spaces through permit management and contract renewals. His academic and professional work centers on elevating underrepresented voices in planning processes and ensuring inclusive, participatory decision-making. With a focus on open space, resilience, and sustainable urban systems, Dhruvin is committed to promoting equity in rezonings and urban renewal initiatives. He aims to apply his integrated expertise in architecture, planning, and community engagement to create just, livable, and community-centered urban environments that support ecological and social well-being.
