Ava Klein focuses on affordable housing and community-led development, drawing on experience in housing policy research and grassroots advocacy. At the NYU Furman Center, she supports research on property tax reform, New York City rent stabilization, and homelessness prevention in the San Francisco Bay Area. As a fellow with HR&A Advisors, she worked with housing stakeholders across New York State to identify regional needs and evaluate the impact of NYCHA’s RAD/PACT program. Previously, Ava worked in grassroots advocacy with the New York Public Interest Research Group (NYPIRG), where she led canvassing for the New York Climate Change Superfund Act and co-directed the organization’s 2025 Stop Climate Polluters Handout Act campaign. She also advocated with Queens College students for affordable CUNY tuition, support for students’ basic needs, and equitable transit access. Ava studied Urban Studies at McGill University, where she researched the environmental, social, and economic sustainability of Montreal’s housing stock.
