Bio

Born and raised in South Queens, Yvonne Scorcia developed an interest in New York City’s waterways, climate, and environmental justice through years spent around Jamaica Bay. She completed three summer internships with the NYC Department of Environmental Protection’s Bureau of Coastal Resilience and was selected as a New York City Urban Fellow in 2023. In DEP’s Office of the Commissioner, she worked on stormwater resilience, rezoning, and related issues. Her commitment to climate and environmental justice has also led to work with the City of Pittsburgh, the Sierra Club, and Resilient Cities Catalyst. Yvonne graduated from Macaulay Honors College at Queens College in 2022 with a degree in Urban Studies and Environmental Science. Outside work and school, she enjoys riding the NYC Ferry, visiting the Museum of Natural History, and trying new foods across the city.
