Bio
Miles Baratier’s work has focused on transportation, public space, and the relationship between environmental and economic policy. Most recently, he worked as a parks planner with the City of Burlington, Vermont, contributing to community engagement efforts for the city’s comprehensive plan. At Columbia GSAPP, he has conducted research on Transit-Oriented Development and contributed to the design and development of park space along the Hutchinson River in Mount Vernon. Miles holds a degree in philosophy, politics, and economics from Pomona College, where his undergraduate thesis examined the politics and economics of rural transportation policy in the United States. His academic and professional work has explored the intersections of transportation, housing, and natural resource policy. Outside of planning, Miles spends much of his time outdoors backpacking, skiing, climbing, mountain biking, and surfing, and also enjoys writing and reading Westerns.
