Bio
Jeff Becker previously earned a bachelor’s degree in International Studies from American University’s School of International Service. Early in his career, he worked in international program management and spent time in cities around the world, where he encountered different approaches to transportation and public space. He now uses tools including 3D rendering software and geospatial analysis in his planning work and research. Jeff’s work has focused on the relationship between transportation, zoning, and the built environment. His published work has examined pedestrian infrastructure and religious land use in Kiryas Joel, a fast-growing Hasidic village in upstate New York. His academic and professional experiences have led him to explore how transportation infrastructure, land use regulations, and emerging technologies shape the planning and design of cities. In his free time, he enjoys playing soccer across New York City’s extensive park system.
