Bio

Christian Carvajal spent a decade working in documentary film, contributing to stories that included the built environment and marginalized voices. He also worked at LSA Family Health Services in East Harlem, where he experienced how a community-based organization operates and serves its neighborhood. Christian earned his bachelor’s degree in Organismic & Evolutionary Biology from Harvard University and is interested in migration, transportation, and governance. In spring 2026, he was one of two students in his urban planning program selected for an exchange at University College London, where he studied planning and urban policy in a different context. Christian is particularly interested in how cities can learn from approaches developed elsewhere while adapting them to local needs. Outside of planning and film, he enjoys exploring New York City through pop-up events, concerts, Queens Night Market, and Summer Streets. He hopes his work can help more people enjoy the places where they live and truly call them home.
