About John Mogulescu

John Mogulescu helped shape the educational landscape at CUNY, serving as the Founding Dean of the School of Professional Studies from 2003-2021 and the Senior University Dean for Academic Affairs. He was instrumental in developing the Stella and Charles Guttman Community College, CUNY’s first new community college in 40 years. Under his leadership, the Accelerated Study in Associate Programs (ASAP) was established, benefiting 25,000 students and replicated across nine states and SUNY. Mogulescu also played a key role in supervising various programs like the CUNY Service Corps, CUNY Start, and collaborations with NYC Public Schools. His efforts in these roles led to the generation of over $1.3 billion in external funding for CUNY programs from 2001-2018, significantly contributing to the university’s growth and success in the field of education.
