Bio

Alicia Blandon is pursuing a Master’s in Higher Education Administration at the Austin W. Marxe School of Public and International Affairs at Baruch College. Currently, she serves as Program Director for the Ella Baker School on the Upper East Side, a Graduate Assistant and First Year Seminar Facilitator for Freshmen at Baruch College, and a Girl Scout Troop Leader for the Biggest Troop in Harlem. With over 15 years of youth development and non-profit experience, she developed an interest in community planning with a focus on community-based organizations as a viable way to serve and empower youths. Born and raised in Harlem, NY, Alicia has seen firsthand the diminishing of CBOs in her community over the years. As a fellow, she plans to increase direct engagement with community members, organizations, and educational institutions to understand, address, and implement strategies to increase access and success in youth programming in the community. She holds a B.S. in Business with a concentration in Marketing and Management from Pennsylvania State University and her master’s in public administration with a concentration in Nonprofit Management and Leadership from Capella University.
