Bio
Annie Larkin is pursuing a Master’s degree in Urban Planning at New York University, with a focus on environmental planning, community development, and sustainable urban design. She earned her undergraduate degree in History from Reed College, where she explored urban history, social geography, and the spatial impacts of colonial violence. Annie is deeply passionate about the built environment, sustainable planning, housing affordability, and strategies that promote equity and resilience in cities. Before attending NYU, she worked at the New-York Historical Society and the Old Stone House, leading educational programs for K–12 students, organizing citywide community events, and developing public engagement initiatives. She now serves on the Climate & Resiliency team at the Urban Homestead Association Board, supporting Housing Development Fund Corporations in meeting Local Law 97 requirements and advancing sustainable practices in affordable housing. These experiences have strengthened her commitment to collaborative decision-making, community-led planning, and inclusive approaches to urban development. Outside of her academic and professional work, Annie enjoys reading, biking through New York City, swimming at the beach, and cooking for friends. Her interdisciplinary background guides her dedication to creating inclusive, resilient, and vibrant urban futures.
