Participation
All Community Boards throughout the five boroughs and select nonprofits are eligible to participate. District Managers and nonprofit partners may submit a project proposal that is both valuable to their community and a substantive learning experience for Fellows over a two-semester timeframe. Complete the form below to submit your proposal. If you need assistance developing the proposal, email communications@fcny.org.

Request a Community Planning Fellow for the 2025–2026 Academic Year

We invite you to complete the Project Proposal Form to request a Community Planning Fellow for the upcoming 2025–2026 academic year.
Community Planning Fellows are graduate students pursuing Master’s degrees in disciplines such as Urban Planning, Architecture, Public Policy, Public Health, and related fields. Upon submission, proposals are reviewed by the NYC Community Planning Fellow in collaboration with the Fund for the City of New York staff. Projects will be carefully matched to Fellows based on their interests, skills, and research focus.
Evaluation Criteria:
Proposals will be assessed on the following:
Clarity and specificity of project inquiry, goals and research objectives
Feasibility of project completion within an academic year
Availability of adequate support and guidance for the Fellow
